Kirat Shah
Founder & Director of LARC | Lymphedema & Wound Care Physical Therapist
Kirat Shah brings specialized expertise, a teacher’s patience, and a welcoming approach to lymphedema therapy and wound care. He founded LARC in 2016 to help people living with persistent swelling, wounds, and mobility challenges feel more comfortable, regain confidence, and return to the activities they enjoy. Today, LARC serves the Greater Richmond area through clinics in Mechanicsville and Colonial Heights, Virginia.
Kirat holds a Master of Physical Therapy degree and advanced credentials as a Certified Wound Specialist (CWS), Wound Care Certified (WCC) clinician, and Certified Lymphedema Therapist certified by the Lymphology Association of North America (CLT-LANA). His approach combines individualized assessment, hands-on treatment, compression therapy, therapeutic exercise, and practical education to support lasting self-management.
Teaching & International Experience
From 2013 to 2023, Kirat served as an instructor with the Academy of Lymphatic Studies (ACOLS), training at least 250 healthcare professionals across the United States, Canada, and India. His students included physical and occupational therapists, therapy assistants, licensed practical nurses (LPNs), registered nurses (RNs), nurse practitioners (NPs), physicians (MDs and DOs), chiropractors, and massage therapists.
He taught complete lymphedema certification courses, lymphatic training for massage therapists, and head and neck lymphedema certification courses. In 2017, Kirat launched a lymphedema certification course in Mumbai, India, expanding access to specialized education. He taught the inaugural course and returned to teach in 2019, with other instructors also contributing to the program. During his earlier work with Aegis Therapies, he taught kinesiology taping for lymphedema and wound care.
An observership at the Földi Clinic in 2026 in Germany further broadened his perspective on specialized lymphedema care. He remains committed to staying current with research and combining evidence-informed treatments with clinical experience and each patient’s needs, preferences, and goals.
His Approach to Care
For Kirat, education belongs in the treatment room as much as the classroom. He welcomes questions, explains why a treatment matters, and helps patients and caregivers build routines they can realistically maintain. Whether discussing compression garments or working toward better mobility, he wants patients to feel heard, informed, and confident participating in their care—with room for a little laughter along the way.
Beyond the Clinic
Outside work, Kirat enjoys spending time with his wife, Juee, and their two daughters, who keep life busy and entertaining. He enjoys strength training, exploring technology, and tackling projects around the house. Family life keeps him grounded and reinforces what matters most in his work: helping people enjoy greater comfort, confidence, and independence in everyday life.
